Why I Decided To Start Writing In My Journal?

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 13, 2009, 1:21 AM

I've been a Deviant for over a year now and yet I haven't been able to catch that popularity train that the whole community seems to be revolving around. I mean sure DA is one of the best on cyber space, where you could share your art, view and comment on other artist's work and most importantly get critiques on your own work. But if you're not popular then the hell with your work no matter how good you are, you just don't exist!

I'm a various artist, I sketch and I write poetry. I've had my share of oil paintings but right now I'm concentrating on the dark art of charcoal. I'm also writing my first novel (928 words). I don't have many deviations because I like to take my time, I've written two poems in 3 months (currently working on the third). And what annoys the crapping brains out of my head is that after taking almost a month to write a poem all I get is one comment from one of my watchers, -hem-gul-fermatus ([link]), which I truly adore. But seriously one comment!

How can an artist keep ejecting art from his brain without recognition? If the Deviant Art community cannot provide that recognition then what use it is to an artist? If you can't afford the dam premium membership then you are of no value to the applauding crowd of DA.

But I'm not a man who gives up so easily so I decided to be more active within those walls of precious art. I'm going to view and favor more and more work, write in my journal and start joining communities (if only I knew how?). And hopefully that will pay off... Some day!
